In the final installment of this series, the video should’ve been the one released and not the tactics

Being “FC Hollywood”, Bayern Munich are no stranger to mild controversies, and none have been more consistent over the years than an insider leaking information to the press.
2019 – Niko Kovać’s number one fan (not)

We all know who Don Niko is, the subject of the most sought after lost media affiliated with Bayern Munich. Early into his tenure, he’s already made an enemy:

Kovac met an annoying mole at the beginning of November 2018. On the one hand, he carried lineups from the dressing room to the outside, on the other hand, he talked about the dissatisfaction of individual substitute players.

In addition, the internal announcement by the Croatian coach that Bayern’s substitutes would warm up too laxly was also made public. Kovac then took his players to his chest and warned everyone not to make internals public. And even that came out later!

“It’s not me,” said the Bayern coach cynically when looking for the culprit and then blurted out: “If you catch them both...” - and rowed back quickly. “Oh, I’ll tell you both. That was a slip of the tongue. If you catch him, maybe let me know and I’ll talk to him.”

If there’s one thing that should’ve been found, it’s the video of him and his brother Robert Kovac singing Nena’s “99 Luftballons“ at the team’s bonding exercise.

Bayern’s then sports director Hasan Salihamidzic was confronted with published internals right at the beginning of his tenure.

When Bayern discussed a commitment for the offensive at the end of August 2017, it was apparently about Thomas Lemar (now Atlético Madrid). A little later the name was in all the newspapers.

According to a report by kicker, Salihamidzic did not know the French. He said he would first look at YouTube to see what Lemar could do.

When sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić first took over his role, he and the rest of the board discussed bringing in a player for the attack. The player in question was apparently Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid, which was neither confirmed nor denied by the board when the mole heard this. Lemar’s name began popping up as Bayern’s next transfer in the media, but Lemar was someone Brazzo did not know then.

During the reign of Pep Guardiola, he discovered that someone has been leaking the coach’s tactics, something that angered him. “I’ll throw that one out; he’ll never play under me again”, the Spaniard ranted at the time. Lothar Matthäus, now a pundit, shares the sentiment of Guardiola and said that it “would be professional suicide, no player in the Bayern squad can afford that.”

The people who spoke want to meet me,” Guardiola said.

1998 – Lothar Matthäus vs Jürgen Klinsmann

Lothar Matthäus also complained that a fine imposed on him had reached the press. “There’s another mole,” he said. The record national player was even suspected for a while, but the allegations were ultimately invalidated.

In addition, Matthäus Klinsmann even accused him of being responsible for his dismissal as Bayern captain via a “secret diary” from which the picture quoted.

In his biography, he also later said that Klinsi had often “cried his heart out” about Matthäus with the club bosses.

Jürgen Klinsmann is again involved as then club captain Lothar Matthäus was fined by the club, but someone got ahold of that information when they shouldn’t have. If you remember from Part 1, you would know that Klinsmann played for Bayern from 1995 to 1997, so this was long after Klinsmann left.

“Loddar” also accused Klinsmann of the former’s dismissal as the club captain and noted in his autobiography that Klinsmann allegedly never missed an opportunity to speak about Matthäus to the club officials. Suffice to say, both players never saw each other eye-to-eye in this instance and it probably took a while before they were on speaking terms.

Welcome to this brand new series! Today, we will talk about the history of the Bayern Munich.

Being “FC Hollywood”, Bayern Munich are no stranger to mild controversies, and none have been more consistent over the years than an insider leaking information to the press.

1996 – Jürgen Klinsmann’s contract

Bayern’s center forward Jürgen Klinsmann complained in 1996 that contract details ended up in the public domain: “I’m just waiting for my entire contract to appear as a copy in the Bild newspaper,” he said angrily.

The first such case of an internal leak in Munich was in the mid-1990s. Although Jürgen Klinsmann was an unsuccessful manager for Bayern, he was better off as a player and suited up for the Bavarians from 1995 to 1997. He was offered a new contract and the terms of which ended up in the media and he was none too happy about it.

This mole evidently started a trend that would plague the club for the next 27 years.
