Bayern CEO says the club will not look to extend Mario Götze prior to the summer break

Bayern Munich's spree of extending all their best and brightest talents in the last six months has stopped short of extending Mario Götze. Germany's best young talent will not be extended a new contract offer as Bayern Munich slide into their busiest, and most difficult, part of the season.

"We are in the important weeks of the season, so we concentrate on the here and now,"... "When all the games are done, Mario is invited to come to my office and speak with Bayern on his future"..."Everything else is speculative. Neither Mario nor his agent has expressed themselves about this subject." - Karl Heinz Rumenigge to Swabische Zeitung (translation via Goal.com)

While the optics don't bode well for Mario Götze given the emphasis the team has placed on the extension of their core pieces since December, there is little reason to think that an impressive run of performances in the next two months would not convince the team to enter into talks about his future at Sabener Straße. Only time, and Mario Götze, can tell us what is next.
