It's May and that means the transfer rumor mill is starting to build up steam as it cranks towards the start of the summer transfer window. It also means we've been treated to the delightful, yet devoid of details or substance, story that Bayern Munich are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven's star winger Memphis Depay. Today we get to laugh (and cry!) at that story and bemoan it's existence, as PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands poured cold water on the rumor
"[PSG and Liverpool] are indeed a step ahead of Manchester United. [United] have only informed us about their interest. Bayern Munich, despite what I've read, are not one of them" - Fox Sports, translation via ESPNFC
Which is a really big shame.
Memphis Depay is one of the best talents in Dutch football and would be a massive talent for Bayern Munich to scoop up as part of a trio with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, especially given the later two's health history. While the lack of interest to date doesn't categorically rule out interest in the future, it would be hard to imagine that if Bayern Munich were interested in any way they wouldn't have already put out some kind of feelers to PSV -- or at the very least called and asked what the price is.
