If there is one thing Bayern Munich don't need more of, it is midfielders. Which means that of course they are openly interested in making a move for Borussia Mönchengladbach's midfield maestro Granit Xhaka.

A report in SportBILD states that the Swiss midfielder is one of several players Bayern Munich are openly considering, with Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer openly confirming that they are considering Xhaka among several options. According to the report, Xhaka has a €25M release clause in his contract that becomes active in 2017. Bayern have been linked to him on-and-off since the summer transfer window, but it's nice to hear for once that this isn't the rumor mill just churning through impressive names.

With the midfield depth Bayern have, this may be just initial scouting and lining up their ducks with a long term move in mind. Xhaka is currently the lynchpin of Andre Schubert's 10-game Bundesliga unbeaten run that included a thrashing of Bayern Munich last weekend. Though with Xhaka's current form it's not hard to see that if Bayern don't act soon, Xhaka may be out of their hands forever.
