DT: Bayern Munich Target Martin Ødegaard Chooses Real Madrid Transfer

The 16-year-old set to sign a "lucrative contract" with Los Blancos.

After his tour around Europe, Norwegian prodigy Martin Ødegaard will reportedly sign with Real Madrid, according to his hometown Norwegian newspaper Drammens Tidende.

Ødegaard will sign a "lucrative long-term deal" once Strømgodset IF and Real Madrid agree on a transfer fee, which DT believes will be between €2.5 million and €3.5 million. Both he and his father, Hans Erik Ødegaard, will move to Spain, Hans Erik perhaps taking a job as a youth coach.

The report also suggests that Bayern Munich were a leading contender to land the 16-year-old. The paper did not give a reason for his ultimate decision of Real Madrid

Drammens Tidende also have reasons to believe that Bayern Munich were leading the race. The German teams legendary coach Josep Guardiola made a solid impression on the duo.

The former midfielder, now a Champions League winning coach, had detailed plans for Martin. After seeing the Strømsgodset player training the Bayern Munich stars, Guardiola was adamant that the 16 year old already was playing at a very high level.

Arsenal and Liverpool were also in the race, two destinations DT believed would be easier to get playing time. Ødegaard will be on a professional contract with Real Madrid, but will train under Zinédine Zidane with the reserves.
