With the summer transfer window due to close in a week's time, representatives from Bayern Munich and AS Roma are due to meet Sunday or Monday in regards to a transfer for Mehdi Benatia, according to Sky Italia reporter Gianluca di Marzio.
The Italian reporter wrote on his website that the meeting will happen after Roma's friendly against AEK Athens, which will occur on Saturday. The gialorossi will listen to Bayern's offer for Benatia, who di Marzio writes is at a crossroads.
That offer could be €30 million plus bonuses, Gazzetta dello Sport under the impression that Bayern's new offer would result in "no more obstacles" for a potential transfer.
Bild explained on Friday that Benatia could cost in the €75 million range – €35 million for a transfer, €40 million for a five year contract. Sport1 believes that the price is one that Bayern does not want to pay.

The Serie A season will not start until the end of August, although Benatia has participated in Roma's preseason friendlies. Benatia is not on Roma's team sheet for their match against AEK Athens, and Football Italia reported that Benatia did not travel with the team to Greece.
With Real Madrid's Sami Khedira linked strongly to Bayern as well, it is unclear what direction the club will head in. With the sale of Mario Mandzukic and Toni Kroos, Bayern certainly have the finances to pursue both, although whether that is the right decision for the squad is another question entirely.
Pep Guardiola fielded Philipp Lahm as the third center back in his new three back system on Friday, Jerome Boateng suspended due to actions last season. Holger Badstuber and Dante are already expected to see much of the field, and David Alaba played most of the preseason in a center back position.
Roma like want to resolve this situation before their Serie A campaign starts, which means answers in regards to the Benatia speculation could come within the next few days.
