Arjen Robben has been out for four weeks with an adductor injury already. He will also miss at least the first match of Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie against Benfica. His agent confirmed to Dutch outlet NOS, today that Robben is still not fit but will resume training next week.
Robben hasn't featured for Bayern since their 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund on March 5th. He was healthy enough however to join the Netherlands national camp. However, he left the team shortly after arriving. "This is obviously a big disappointment. I was very happy to come to Noordwijk, precisely because we are in the build-up towards the qualifying round for the World Cup in Russia. Now I'm going to fully focus on my recovery. " he said in a release from the Federation.
BILD reported today that the team is being exceedingly cautious with this injury. And given this is his third adductor injury this season, it's completely understandable. Bayern Munich have options against the likes of Benfica but with the slate of teams they could be up against should they advance to the Champions League semi-finals, Arjen Robben may be far more necessary three weeks from now.
