According to a report from Sky Sport, Real Madrid is set to make its move on Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

Davies has been linked to Los Blancos for months now, but it seems like Real Madrid is preparing to make its push to bring the Canadian to Spain next season. Unable to agree on a new deal with Bayern Munich, Davies could be leaning toward an exit this summer:

Real Madrid are still working on signing Bayern defender Alphonso Davies. The Royals have already made a clear announcement to the Canadian.

According to Sky information, Real squad planner Juni Calafat made it clear to Davies that he should not extend his contract with Bayern. The Royals have been in contact with the management of the fast full-back for months and would like to guide him to the Spanish capital. Real are ready to make an offer for the 23-year-old in the summer.

Davies’ contract is valid until 2025. The negotiations over a contract extension are complicated, after all Davies is demanding between 10 and 13 million euros per year. Bayern currently do not want to pay that. The left-back is still thinking about his future, but generally feels comfortable in Munich. If there is no extension, a sale in the summer is realistic. Real Madrid is already in wait.

Negotiations with the German record champions are likely to follow soon: “The priority is Alphonso Davies — and Real Madrid is well on the way to getting the full-back from FC Bayern and will also enter into negotiations with FC Bayern very soon,” said Jose Felix Diaz, Real Madrid editor-in-chief of Marca at Transfer Update.

This report comes just days after news leaked that Bayern Munich would be closely scrutinizing just about everyone on its roster. If Davies makes is clear that he wants to leave, it will be interesting to see how Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel manages the situation. With much of the season still to play, Davies could be an integral player...or an afterthought depending on how Tuchel wants to handle it.

Bayern Munich is not out of the race by any means, but Real Madrid could be taking the lead if this report is true.
