Could Ouédraogo join the likes of Sané, Goretzka, and Neuer as the latest former Schalke player at Bayern?

There have been numerous rumors linking German U-17 talent Assan Ouédrago to Bayern Munich, but it appears the Bavarians have stepped up their interest in the player and have submitted a transfer bid.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern has matched Ouédrago’s 15 million Euro release clause and offered the 17-year-old a five-year contract running until 2029. While Bayern requires reinforcements in the January transfer window, it is understood that Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund is looking to have the player arrive in the summer transfer window.

Ouédrago started the season well having fought for a place in Schalke’s midfield and managed to bag himself a goal and an assist in 11 appearances for the Bundesliga 2 outfit but has had his progress halted by an injury ankle injury sustained in late October (Transfermarkt).

The Germany U-17 squad that recently won the U-17 World Cup was set to feature Ouédraogo, but unfortunately, his injury ruled him out of contention. He was, however, an important member of the same U-17 Germany team that won the Euros a year prior.

Ouédroago is an attack-minded player who likes to dribble past his opponents (FBREF). While Bayern is always looking to sign the best players, which Ouédraogo could very well turn out to be, questions have to be asked about how many minutes the player would receive as Bayern have a plethora of attacking midfield options.
