Once brought in to play second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was a serviceable striker when called upon and established himself in the starting XI. His contract expires in summer 2024 and while he doesn’t rule out a transfer right now, Bayern apparently do not want to let him go.

Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg (@plettigoal) reports that Choupo is likely to leave the club when his contract expires in six months. Premier League club Manchester United is said to be interested in him, as well as clubs from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Despite the arrival of Harry Kane and the rise of Mathys Tel, Choupo still plays the occasional game at CAM ahead of players that are more suited to the role like Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala. His run of good form right before the 2022 World Cup was when he announced himself as a legitimate contender for the striker position.
