Prior to the FC Basel friendly, Bild issued a report (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), which stated that young attacker Mathys Tel has been the standout performer in Bayern Munich’s training camp so far:

Mathys Tel is the first ‘winner’ of the start of training. The Frenchman was excited, accurate with his finishing and scored a lot of goals, even leaving Manuel Neuer with no chance. Tel’s goals got his team the win in Wednesday’s practice match and he received praise from Thomas Tuchel.

Tel is determined to prove himself after a little dip in the past couple of months and get closer and closer to the starting eleven in order to be a real alternative at some point, both up front and on the wings.

With Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s status at least somewhat in doubt given the transfer links between the striker and Manchester United and the lack of depth on the wings with only Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry on the roster, Tel could get more chances for playing time during the Rückrunde.
