Florian Plettenberg rules out Bayern Munich signing Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah

Bring up a transfer rumor, then kill it off yourself...sure, why not.

Sillly season is here and it is really hitting Bayern Munich. On January 4th, 2024, Florian Plettenberg reported that there was “new movement between [Trevoh] Chalobah and FC Bayern”, that “there is contact now” and “talks and ideas about a loan.”

And it made sense. After all, who better to cover Bayern during January in the absences of Kim Min-jae and Noussair Mazraoui than a player who hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football since May 2022 and is said to not be match fit until the end of January? Besides, he’s a Premier League player and those are guys are always good, right?

However, shocking news arrived from Florian Plettenberg on January 5th, 2024. Incredibly, after just one day the new movement between Chalobah and FC Bayern has come to a screeching halt as Bayern held a new round of discussions and “decided again” to not sign Chalobah this winter window. A loan outside of the Premier League is possible for Chalobah and Chelsea to accomplish, but all the contact and the talks and ideas Bayern had with the 24-year-old was not enough to convince him.

What a bummer, huh? The move was getting hot one minute and then it was dead within 24 hours. What are the odds?
