New Bayern Munich signing Bryan Zaragoza reflects on a crazy 2023

This might be the craziest rise to fame I have ever seen. He was a bench player in the 2nd division just last season!

In a more normal season of La Liga in which Girona weren’t channeling prime Brazil and Real Madrid’s Bellingham weren’t channeling his inner Kratos and destroying everyone in his path, Bryan Zaragoza might be the biggest surprise of the season.

The development of Bayern Munich’s newest signing, at the time of writing, has been truly astonishing and his emotional post on Instagram, as captured and translated by Sport1, captured his emotions well. In 2022, he was still in Granada’s academy and was limited to one appearance on the bench in La Liga before becoming a regular off the bench in the Segunda Division. And then came 2023.

“It will always remain in my memory,” Zaragoza wrote, “the promotion to La Liga with FC Granada, my debut for the Spanish national team and signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, Bayern Munich.”

From appearing off the bench in the Segunda Division to becoming one of La Liga’s most outstanding players, Zaragoza has had a whirlwind of a year that has been underpinned by hard work, determination and incredible growth. One might suspect Bayern fans would like to see that continue into 2024.
