It could finally be time for Choupo to say goodbye to Bayern.

With the presence of Harry Kane and Mathys Tel in the squad, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s minutes at Bayern Munich so far this season have been few and far between. He has still been able to tally three goals from a total of fourteen appearances across all competitions, but he certainly would like to be getting more minutes right now.

Choupo’s current contract at Bayern runs through June of this year, but it could finally be time for the Rekordmeister to part ways with the Cameroon international. They could even be doing so as early as this month’s transfer window.

Per football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (writing for CaughtOffside), Manchester United is currently discussing the option of signing Choupo-Moting in the winter transfer window, as they are currently in need of more attacking options. New striker Rasmus is far off from setting the world afire at Old Trafford and Erik Ten Hag’s side are really struggling to string together consistent runs of form. For them, it is an issue of one step forward followed by one step back this season, including the two losses to Bayern in the Champions League group stages.

“Bayern Munich striker Eric Choupo-Moting is one of many names being discussed internally. It’s nothing concrete, nothing advanced yet. Still, Bayern have Harry Kane and Mathys Tel as options up front, so obviously there’s not so much space for Choupo-Moting and Man United have been informed of his situation. At the moment it’s not a negotiation, from what I’m told, but it may become one to watch,” Romano explained.

Per Sport Bild’s Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), both Bayern and Choupo are discussing his future and the club is open to letting him go during the winter transfer window. From Bayern’s perspective, though, the right offer would have to come in for the striker. As Romano had reported, there has not been an offer from Manchester United, but that could change, but a summer move to Saudi Arabia is also an option for Bayern to consider.
