According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund wants to secure a deal for Paris Saint-Germain defender Nordi Mukiele this week.

Mukiele, who can play as a center-back and a right-back, could push Noussair Mazraoui for the starting right-back position in Bavaria if a move goes official:

Christoph Freund wants to finalize the deal with Nordi #Mukiele in the next week at the latest (total agreement with PSG, signing, medical) ✔️

One thing that will not be happening with a Mukiele transfer is a swap deal involving Joshua Kimmich. That bizarre rumor popped up last week, but Freund said there was no merit to the report.

“I can only smile about it. That’s totally far-fetched. Joshua Kimmich is a very important player for us, one of our leading players. We will sit down and talk about his future. We know what we have in Jo Kimmich,” Freund told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We’ll see what else the squad might need. I don’t want to go into names, but generally speaking Nordi is a type of player who can play right-back and center-back. He’s certainly not an uninteresting type of player.”

Bild is also reporting that Freund wants to complete the deal within the next 36 to 48 hours.

Things definitely could start progressing quickly.
