Alphonso Davies to Real Madrid is a transfer saga that the majority of Bayern Munich fans are hoping will end with the Canadian superstar signing a contract extension to stay in Munich. However, countless rumors suggesting that Real is getting closer to convincing Davies to leave for Spain have been cause for concern.
Rumors aside, it has been reported by journalist Tobi Altschäffl that from the camp of Alphonso Davies, nothing has yet happened and the player and his agent are waiting for contract talks to kick off with Bayern before making any decisions about going abroad (via @iMiaSanMia).
Despite Real Madrid putting forward their best efforts to tempt Davies away from Bayern, he isn’t as close to Madrid as recent reports have suggested. Davies hasn’t made any promises to either Madrid or Bayern, so while contract talks will take place there’s no guarantee that they’ll be successful or that the player won’t end up leaving to link up with former teammate David Alaba in the Spanish capital.
It sounds like it could take a lot of work to get Davies to stay, but it would also be a lot of work to sort out a suitable replacement at left-back. Fans can only hope the Bayern higher-ups are prepared for the task of negotiating a new contract for the 23-year-old.
