Vote! Bayern Munich 3-0 Hoffenheim: Community player ratings

Not a bad day at the office.

Bayern Munich paid tribute to footballing legend Franz Beckenbauer in the Bundesliga’s return to action on Friday. The Bavarians, playing in the first game of the Rückrunde, gave a performance befitting Der Kaiser in a 3-0 shutout over TSG Hoffenheim.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was called upon repeatedly in a frantic second-half spell that saw Die Kraichgauer suddenly pepper the Bayern goal. The Bayern captain was equal to the task on two occasions, and when Andrej Kramarić finally beat him, the crossbar came to the rescue.

But it was more than a let-off for the Bavarians, who knocked on the door early and often. Jamal Musiala’s bright return to action bodes well for the remainder of this year’s campaign, and Harry Kane showed he is as lethal as ever — both supplying and finishing chances. And how about a certain Thomas Müller, gracing the starting XI once again and applying his trademark, unpredictable spark?

Bayern have a longer week than usual now to savor their victory. They next return to action on Sunday, January 21, vs. Werder Bremen.
