Per a release from the club website, Bayern Munich will host an NFL game featuring the Carolina Panthers later this year:

American football is coming back to the Allianz Arena as the NFL returns to FC Bayern’s home stadium with a regular-season game in 2024. The home team this year is the Carolina Panthers.

Bayern Munich board member for marketing Andreas Jung is happy to have the NFL back at the Allianz Arena.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the NFL to our Allianz Arena for the second time. The match in autumn 2022 was an unforgettable experience, and we want to build on that. Since we played in the Carolina Panthers’ stadium in Charlotte in the summer of 2016, it’s a great story to welcome the Panthers to Munich now. We are also looking forward to the second team and to another NFL game in our stadium,” Jung said.

Per the announcement, the NFL will announce the date and the Panthers’ opponent in the near future.

BFW Analysis

The first thing that is coming to mind for most Bayern Munich fans is how the NFL wrecked the turf at the Allianz Arena last season. The game was so hard on the surface that the NFL has to replace it, which then had to be worked with significantly to get back up to an acceptable standard.

Heck, Bayern Munich even invested in an expert groundskeeper to help with such situations in the future. As for the Panthers, they were arguably the worst team in the NFL this season. Fans in Munich probably will not care, though, as the NFL has become a major event in each European city that hosts a game.
