Update — January 11th, 7:30AM EST: Dier gets part one done

According to Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau, Eric Dier has completed the first part of his medical exam. The Englishman has one more part of the exam to go before he can ink his new deal:

Per reports — and acknowledgement from club officials — Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has arrived in Germany to take a medical exam for Bayern Munich.

Signing Dier would end weeks of speculation and confirm that the Bavarians were interested in inking Dier as far back as last summer. The confidant of Harry Kane has boots on the ground in Bavaria and could make a quick transition from the Premier League to the Bundesliga if his exam goes well.

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting that the move is a done deal, pending the result of the medical exam:

Plettenberg provided the information below as well:

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel acknowledged that Dier was in town during his press conference today.

“He’s here in the city and we’re trying to finalize a move to have him as another option at centre-back. We’ll wait until everything is done because from experience I know that everything can still fall through at the last minute,” Tuchel said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Tuchel, of course, if referring to what happened last summer when Fulham FC midfielder João Palhinha arrived in Germany, (probably) took his signing pictures, and then had to return to England when the two clubs could not agree on a deal before the deadline.

Dier is expected to fill a key role as a depth player for center-back, right-back, and as a defensive midfielder.
