According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has fully shifted focus to getting a deal done with Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier after failing to convince Radu Drăgușin to join the club.

Dier, whose ability to player center-back, right-back, and as a defensive midfielder appeals to the Bavarians, is a low-cost option, who can fill several roles to help with the squad’s depth.

Not everyone is convinced of Dier, though — including noted pundit Didi Hamman.

“Eric Dier had a really good phase four or five years ago. He was an integral part of the English national team. But that was some time ago. He is disciplined, good in the air and in duels. But he barely played this season. When you haven’t played for six months, it takes a few weeks to get back into the rhythm — then the season would almost be over. A move to FC Bayern would really surprise me,” Hamann told Tz journalist Philipp Kessler (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Even with that analysis, the plan for Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund is as follows:

Will Freund get his men?
