Some Bayern Munich supporters are convinced that securing the signing of Eric Dier would be like getting “Money For Nothing”. However, should they miss out on Dier’s signature, others may be resigned to say that’s just the “Walk Of Life”. Either way, Harry Kane will be the most disappointed as he will not be reuniting with one of his former “Brothers In Arms”.

Okay. Dire Straits references out of the way.

Is there actually a chance that Eric Dier could be heading to Napoli?

According to Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold (As captured by @iMiaSanMia), there is interest.

To anyone hopeful that Bayern will sign Eric Dier, the key piece of information here is that the Spurs man prefers a move to Germany.

The real question is whether Bayern believe Dier possesses the skill set they are after.

Capable of playing centre-back and central-defensive-midfield and even right-back in a pinch; He would be able to plug some holes in the Bayern squad. However, the issue is that he has barely featured for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs side, only racking up 198 minutes in four Premier League games across the season. On top of this, Dier has also been snubbed in favour of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies at times (a right-back and left-back by nature).

This doesn’t exactly make one extremely confident in Dier’s abilities, however, it is also possible that he is just a bad fit for Spurs’ current system and may be a more natural fit at Bayern.

One thing is for sure. Should Bayern sign Dier, Harry Kane will be happy to have a fellow Englishman and former teammate around.
