City planning low-ball offer for Kimmich (Daily Star)

All of a sudden, Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich’s future with the club is in doubt.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona are all rumored to have interest in the 28-year-old. However, it might be City — with coach Pep Guardiola — that is most appealing to Kimmich.

Knowing that, the Citizens could be preparing a low-ball offer to Bayern Munich this summer as Kimmich enters the “lame duck” year of his contract:

Manchester City will wait until the summer before launching a swoop for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.

The Germany international, 28, is wanted by Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering outfit, while Liverpool and Manchester United are also monitoring his situation. But the Premier League trio know he will cost the best part of £50million in the current window - whereas that figure is expected to drop significantly - to around £25m - come July.

It is hard to say what Kimmich is thinking at this point, but he does seem to be aware that his status with Bayern Munich is under close scrutiny. Could a reunion with Guardiola be what Kimmich needs at this stage of his career?

Madrid planning move for Musiala if Mbappé plan fails (The Hard Tackle)

Real Madrid has advised Alphonso Davies to cut off talks with Bayern Munich and if Los Blancos fail to land Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé, the Spanish club might try to sway Jamal Musiala to join them next summer as well:

Real Madrid will reportedly pursue Jamal Musiala if they fail to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jamal Musiala is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are scouring the market for offensive reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window. And they view the 20-year-old Bayern Munich prospect as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 6, Episode 26 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich had a tune-up this weekend and it did not, well, go so great.

In the wake of that uneven effort, the Bavarians are closely linked to Eric Dier, Nordi Mukiele, and Radu Drăgușin, while also seeing reports break that nearly everyone on the squad is going to be analyzed and scrutinized over the course of the second half of the season.

Is this normal...or is a powder keg brewing. Let’s discuss!

Here are the topics we will take on in this podcast:

  • Should Bayern Munich make a move for Dier?
  • What about Mukiele or Drăgușin? Would they be good fits for the Bavarians?
  • Who are the most likely candidates for Bayern Munich to move on from during the summer?
  • What we are looking most forward to in the second half of the season.

Neuer impressed with Sommer’s start for Inter (SempreInter)

Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer’s leg injury opened up an opportunity for Yann Sommer to join the Bavarians last season, but the team captain has not stopped following his fellow netminder even though he now plays for Inter Milan.

Neuer thinks Sommer has deftly handled his move to Italy:

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer is impressed with how his former teammate Yann Sommer has started the season at Inter Milan. Speaking to German tabloid Sport Bild, via FCInterNews, the 2014 World Cup winner gave his thoughts on how Sommer has adapted to life in Serie A.

Sommer’s good performances have been a big part of Inter enjoying as positive first half to the season as they have done.

It will not be easy for the Nerazzurri to keep up the same level over the second half of the campaign.

But Sommer looks to be quite a safe pair of hands to rely upon in their efforts. Neuer said of his former teammate that, “I’ve been following him at Inter. He’s had an excellent first half of the season,” the German continued.

Across the first nineteen matches of the season in Serie A, Sommer has conceded a total of just nine goals. He has kept twelve clean sheets.

RB Leipzig attacker Timon Werner is headed to Tottenham Hotspur on a loan assignment:

Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Podcast: Season 3, Episode 26 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich has returned to training, but somehow the transfer action has been hotter than what has been going on during the practice sessions.

Knowing that Bayern Munich is eager to spend some money and add a few players during this transfer window, the rumors are flowing. Let’s take a look at what we have on tap for this week’s episode:

  • Catching-up on some an older take to see how it is going.
  • A rundown of the rumor mill, including what we have heard about VfB Stuttgart’s Alexander Nübel and Serhou Guirassy, Chelsea FC’s Trevoh Chalobah, Fulham FC’s João Palhinha, and AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori.
  • The increasing likelihood that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Frans Krätzig could leave on loan assignments.
  • Discussing the Bild report that Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, Matthijs de Ligt and Alphonso Davies are being closely monitored and how that could mean bad things for their respective futures with the club.
  • Finally, we lighten it up with some thoughts on this season of Fargo and my progress working through the Marvel movies.

Kimmich excels going forward (@WhoScored)

According to WhoScored.com, Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has won possession in the attacking third more times than any other player in the Bundesliga since the start of the season:

Juve bows out of running for Phillips, Højbjerg (90Min.com)

Juventus will not be getting Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, nor Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg:

Juventus have been ruled out of the running to sign Premier League duo Kalvin Phillips and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this January.

The Serie A giants had been in the market for a midfielder during the January transfer window, with 90min understanding that the club had held talks with Manchester City regarding the availability of out-of-favour midfielder Phillips before Christmas.

Juve had been keen to sign the England international on an initial loan deal in which Man City would continue to pay the bulk of the player’s hefty wage packet.

Along with Phillips, Juventus had also retained an interest in Tottenham’s Hojbjerg. Juve’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli enquired about the midfielder’s availability during a recent trip to London.

According to The Sun however, interest in both player’s has now subsided due to the financial outlay required to sign either player. The report claims that City are holding out for £5m to allow Phillips to leave the club on loan in January, with a further £40m required in order to sign the player outright in the summer.
