Eintracht Frankfurt seems to be one of the few teams in the Bundesliga that consistently gives the German champions a tough match each time. History certainly repeated itself as Bayern Munich were absolutely thumped in Frankfurt. This will be remembered as part of Tuchel’s legacy (infamy) here at Bayern, no doubt.
Jersey Swap: Omar Marmoush
Omar Marmoush joined Eintracht Frankfurt this summer and what a signing he has been so far. Marmoush was the key to unlocking this Frankfurt attack and what a display of hustle and composure to make that first goal happen inside a clustered Bayern box.
Honorable mention to Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe for a stunning run and finish for Frankfurt’s second goal.
Der Kaiser: No one
One of the poorer displays in defense for Bayern Munich. Tuchel has to whip this squad into shape fast. This can’t be happening in the Champions League knockout stages.
Fußballgott: Joshua Kimmich
Joshua Kimmich didn’t have a vintage performance, but his goal lifted the team to recover from what was looking very ugly in the first half.
Der Bomber: Leroy Sané
Leroy Sané didn’t have a performance of late, but in a game like this, the options are minimal. He didn’t look his confident self, but he found Joshua Kimmich for Bayern’s only goal of the game. Keep your chin up, Leroy.
Meister of the Match: Jamal Musiala
Tuchel should have never started Choupo-Moting, plain and simple. However, once Musiala finally came into the match, he injected life into the attack that was visibly missing before that. While his performance would never warrant an MOTM in a typical match, this is somewhat of a consolation prize.
