Only three out of 60 journalists voted for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala in the 2023 Golden Boy awards

Bias courses through these votes.

Real Madrid and former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham pipped Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala to the 2023 Golden Boy award. Of course, not everyone is going to be happy with the outcome of the polls so, if you want to know who the journalists voted for, look at this tweet below:

The short of it is that 55 out of the 60 journos voted for Bellingham, three for Musiala (kicker, Tz, De Telegraaf), and one each for Alejandro Balde (Mundo Deportivo) and Mathys Tel (Sportski Zurnal/Serbia). Seeing some of the German outlets not voting for Musiala is a bit disappointing.

Bellingham has been phenomenal this season for Madrid, and no one is going to take that away from him. But if one of the criteria for the award is that voting was based on last season’s performances (during his time with Dortmund), Musiala has arguably been the better player. The kid topped off a great 2022/23 season by rescuing Bayern’s hopes of winning the Bundesliga, isn’t that enough?!
