Thomas Müller has been one of Bayern Munich’s most important players, if not the most important player in the club’s contemporary history. His current contract expires in 2024 but everyone seems to agree that he will extend it soon enough.

Take it from Bayern president Herbert Hainer:

Herbert Hainer on Thomas Müller’s future: Thomas is an absolute Bayern icon and a player with big merit here. We all wish he would end his career in Munich. We’re in talks, I’m optimistic and hope he will stay with us. I think Thomas knows what he has at FC Bayern, and we know what we have in him. As I said I wish he’ll retire here and take on another role at FC Bayern after his retirement because he’s a legend here.

The club executives are also confident that they’ll get a deal done for the 34-year-old in no time flat. For Müller, a deal until at least 2025 is on the cards.
