The high profile transfer of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich drew immediate comparisons between the former Lilywhite hitman and his predecessor in Munich, Robert Lewandowski, who is now enjoying the Catalan lifestyle in FC Barcelona. Those comparisons continue on months after the transfer was finalized, as evidenced by Sepp Maier giving his opinion on it. And he is quite emphatic about it.

Speaking to Sport1, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, the goalkeeping legend laid down the hammer: “His performances have been exceptionally good. I’m almost at a loss for words. The special thing about Kane is that he also works for others and shows how much he has already internalized FC Bayern. He’s good for the Bundesliga. Kane is significantly more valuable than Lewandowski was.”

That last sentence is a pretty significant one, speaking about a legend that stayed at the Bavarian giants for almost a decade to a player who has yet to complete a half year at Bayern at the time of writing, but certainly not one that can be immediately proven when one looks at the goalscoring charts in the Bundesliga. Long may the reign of Harry continue.
