Rediscovering his mojo?

Because of the player shortage at Bayern Munich, some of their current players have had to play out of position to form a semblance of a stable starting XI. For Leon Goretzka, Thomas Tuchel puts him with the defence in the name of rotation and former is just doing what he has to do. “I’m taking it as it comes and trying to do my best in every position,” Goretzka said (via @iMiaSanMia).

The 28-year-old has had a rough patch before and he rebounded by keeping a clear head. “I didn’t have time to think about that because things are happening too quickly at the moment. Of course, there were a lot of discussions in the summer, and a lot of media attention. I tried to keep a cool head and just do my thing. I’ve always done that very well in my career.”

Going back to the player shortage situation, this has prompted Bayern to go hard after midfielders (most notably Fulham’s João Palhinha). But the former Schalke player said that it’s not for the players to discuss. “I didn’t even notice this was being discussed. We players have nothing to say about such topics. I have full confidence that the team will be strengthened well if there’s a need for that, so we can achieve all our goals.”
