It may look like Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Schalke youngster Assan Ouédraogo has fallen under the radar, it hasn’t as the Bavarians are still in for the 17-year-old. They have competition this time around in the form of RB Leipzig, who currently leads the Ouédraogo sweepstakes:

A report from Tz’s Philipp Kessler (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) states that Bayern had already approached Ouédraogo two years ago and offered him a move, which he turned down because he wanted to finish school and stay at Schalke. Since then, the Rekordmeister has monitored him.

Bayern have had a long line of players who played for Die Königsblauen: Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sané, Sebastian Rudy, Alexander Nübel, and many more. Bayern also have a knack for thumping Borussia Dortmund’s fierce rivals, with Die Roten going 25 games unbeaten against the blue Ruhr team. The last time Schalke beat Bayern was in 2010/11.
