According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has interest in FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo, who can play as both a center-back and a right-back.

While the Uruguayan is best known for his play as a central defender, his versatility is appealing to Bayern Munich. While it seems like the 24-year-old might be a fit, his contract ends in 2026, which ensures FC Barcelona would want a hefty fee in January for the defender:

❗️News Ronald #Araújo: FC Bayern is very interested - confirmed ✔️

➡️ Bayern is monitoring him for two years

➡️ 24 y/o is keen on Bayern‘s interest as the club has inquired about him

➡️ Now, Tuchel wants him too …

But the same as with Tomiyasu & Varane: It’s very unlikely for Bayern to get the central defender! Understand that #Barcelona wants to extend his contract beyond 2026.

As stated by Plettenberg, a move by Araújo seems very doubtful, though, the rumors might have rekindled the flame that burns in Catalonia for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. According to AS (as captured by 90Min.com), Barca still wants the Germany international:

While Araújo is unlikely to make the move from Spain to Germany, Barcelona would still like to bring in Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich.

As of now, both moves do not appear to have any likelihood of happening January or even next summer.
