Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz is one of the most sought-after talents in Europe — and he could be favoring a move to Bayern Munich based on the latest report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Wirtz is said to not be keen on moving abroad at the moment. Coincidentally, Wirtz is also sitting atop Bayern Munich’s transfer wish list.

It all sounds great, eh? Well...Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price is reportedly in the €120 million to €130 million range, which could be a deterrent to the Bavarians:

⚠️ News #Wirtz: Currently, he tends to lean towards a transfer to FC Bayern from Leverkusen, provided Bayern is willing. Going directly abroad from Leverkusen is not his first choice at the moment.

➡️ The 20 y/o is on top of Bayern‘s list for 2024 or 2025

➡️ Bayern wants to try to sign him if there’s a chance but it also depends on Müller/Musiala.

BFW Analysis

Wirtz is rumored to be drawing interest from Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, and Arsenal FC among others. Clearly, Bayern Munich is not the only club interested, but the logistics of such a move could be financially cumbersome for Der Rekordmeister.

Granted, the Bavarians could be shedding some big salaries next summer — and certainly even more by 2025, along with also potentially having some big player sales — so it could be a little bit easier to stomach within the club budget by then. However, where Wirtz would play on the field is another issue.

The 20-year-old is best known for his play as an attacking midfielder, which could present an issue at Bayern Munich unless Thomas Tuchel (or whoever the coach is at the time) concocts a way to use both Wortz and Jamal Musiala together.

It is possible as there are several ways to make it happen, but what kind of other effects that would have on the roster could create more headaches. Undoubtedly, any acquisition of Wirtz will be expensive and create a ripple effect on several positions on the roster.
