Time out?

Bayern Munich and the German national football team always go together, with the international team comprising many players from the Bavarians. Bayern’s men’s team had players sit out of the latest international break (which totally did not happen) while the Frauen will have to do without Lea Schüller.

According to a report from Bayern’s official website, the 26-year-old picked up an injury in the Frauen’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Women’s Champions League last Friday; she was replaced by Sydney Lohmann at half-time. An early substitution is uncommon in a team led by Alexander Straus, who mirrors Thomas Tuchel in putting off subs.

As of late, Schüller has not been her best self with mistimed runs, making decisions a split-second too late and above all, misfiring in front of goal. For someone who is the female equivalent of Robert Lewandowski, it is a tough period of struggle to go through. Maybe some time out to recover and reflect is what Schüller needs to get herself back into shape.
