It is fully expected that Neuer will get his extension at Bayern and he remains committed to playing at least until 2025.

It is now expected that Manuel Neuer will get a contract extension at Bayern Munich. His current deal is set to expire in June 2024. Initially, it had come out that the club wanted to wait and see how he progresses as this season goes on and how his fitness is maintained, but it looks like a new deal is just a formality; it is going to happen. Internally, the club was going to wait until the beginning of the second half of the season, which could still, in theory, happen, but they do know that the extension is fully expected.

As long as Neuer is able to stay fit, the extension will happen, but there is certainly no guarantee that an injury will not occur. Surely, though, he has been instructed to perhaps forego a skiing trip whilst on holiday break this time around.

Fellow Bayern and Germany veteran Thomas Müller recently said that he would like to play at Bayern through 2025, despite not exactly being a first choice for Thomas Tuchel right now. In recent weeks, he is growing accustomed to playing a substitute’s role for Bayern, but is still very much an integral part of the squad.

“I want to play at least as long as Thomas. I would of course be happy to continue. It depends on my health. At the moment I’m feeling better and better. I think the international break was good for me,” Neuer recently professed to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). He remained in Munich during the international break for Germany’s pair of friendlies against Turkey and Austria as he continues to work his way back to 100% match speed having now manned the cage for a total of six times since he has marked his return from injury.

He had been deemed fit enough to partake as early as Bayern’s 3-1 win over Mainz towards the end of October, but Tuchel elected to use Sven Ulreich for that match and the subsequent match against Galatasaray in the Champions League. Neuer’s first match back was the 8-0 routing of Darmstadt.
