One of the great subplots for Bayern Munich during the Hinrunde was the excellent fill-in job by Sven Ulreich while Manuel Neuer was out injured.

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was especially fond of Ulreich’s effort.

“We owe Sven a big thank you, he did a fantastic job. We are in talks to extend his contract and I’m very optimistic we’ll reach an agreement. He more than deserves it. He helped us a lot when Manuel was out,” Dreesen told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Ulreich was happy to hear that his work was appreciated.

“I’m happy to hear positive words. The last few weeks and months have shown how important it is to be well equipped in the position. I’m happy about the feedback. We’ll sit down for the next few weeks and see what happens.”

Now, the two parties are expected meet and agree on a new deal, which should solidify Ulreich’s standing within the squad for another season.
