Jamal Musiala has not featured for Bayern Munich since their 2-1 win over Galatasaray at the Allianz Arena at the beginning of November. He was subbed off in that match in the 40th minute after sustaining a hamstring injury and has since missed Bayern’s 4-2 win over Heidenheim as well as the recent 1-0 win over FC Köln. Additionally, at the international level, he missed out on being a part of Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for the pair of friendlies against Turkey and Austria.

In the two matches Musiala has missed, Thomas Tuchel has used a varying combination of Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller tucked behind and/alongside Harry Kane in Bayern’s attack. Musiala would normally occupy one of the roles any of those players occupied for the pair of matches he missed.

Per an update from Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern’s number 42 was working on his comeback routine in frigid, freezing temperatures at Sabener Straße the Saturday following Bayern’s win in Cologne. Additionally, it was reported that the 20-year old-could very well be ready to resume full team training as early as the beginning of next week, Monday to be precise. At this current juncture, though, it is unclear whether or not he will be ready to play a part in Bayern’s midweek Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen.

For Tuchel and Bayern, they can exercise an abundance of caution in terms of Musiala’s injury situation, because there is absolutely no need to risk playing him if he is not 100% ready. Bayern have already secured their advancement to the knockout stages of the competition, and they have also already secured winning Group A. The only thing they are aiming to keep intact is their perfect record thus far in the competition, but that is not worth risking Musiala for if he is not deemed fully ready to go.
