Leon Goretzka one of Bayern Munich’s bright spots as tired team snoozes through 1-0 win over FC Köln

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka turned in a solid effort in his teams 1-0 victory over FC Köln.

Goretzka completed 94% of his 78 passes, had one key pass, completed all three of his long balls, created one big chance, had three of four successful dribbles, won four of seven ground duels, and both of his aerial duels.

Goretzka did all that over 90 minutes and only lost possession an astounding six times. For the Germany international, it was a very efficient performance on a day where there really were not many real standouts. The 28-year-old thinks that the busy schedule simply caught up to the roster (hmmm...maybe the coach should have used his bench).

“We had many tired players coming into this game on Friday night after the international break. We showed a professional performance, created many chances and had a lot of control over the game. Maybe we could have created more chances in the second half, but when you’re tired from the international games, you try to control the game and stay sharp - we did that well today,” Goretzka told DAZN (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

With a game on Tuesday in the Champions League against FC Copenhagen, maybe Thomas Tuchel should consider a couple of days off for his weary bunch.
