Bayern Munich eked out a 1-0 win away at FC Köln on Friday night in Germany as they return from the international period to club action.
It was a bitter period for the club’s German members, who lost both their matches and will have to endure questions about their mentality and ability until March, with a home-turf EURO right around the corner next summer.
Despite those setbacks, and the fatigue from all its international stars, Bayern pulled together a tidy performance. The Rekordmeister controlled the match throughout but it was an early counter that gave them the advantage — Konrad Laimer, Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting all part of the effort that ultimately set up Harry Kane.
The England captain now has 18 goals this season.
