What is that thing that Manuel Neuer wears in training for Bayern Munich?

It apparently helps you become a better goalkeeper.

If you had been following Manuel Neuer in training for Bayern Munich, you would have seen that he wears some sort of gear on his face when doing goalkeeping drills. That little widget is called “Swivel Vision”.

According to Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), it is a training method introduced by goalkeeper coach Michael Rechner since February and what it does is it limits the goalie’s vision to the left and right which results in maximum focus on the ball and better hand-eye coordination. It also helps strengthen eye muscles and improve reaction time. See images of the device below:

Maybe that was why Neuer was able to stop Marco Reus from scoring in the last edition of Der Klassiker (which Bayern won 4-0 thanks to Harry Kane’s hat-trick and a Dayot Upamecano goal). Germany recently laid an egg in the latest international break so Neuer returning to the national team ASAP would do them wonders.
