Julian Nagelsmann knows why Germany’s defense stinks after Austria defeat

This is ugly.

Former Bayern Munich boss and current German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann knows his team has a defensive problem.

Namely, it stinks at defending.

While that description might be too simplistic for Nagelsmann, the coach has an idea on why this generation of German players just does not do well at protecting its own net.

“We’re not defensive monsters. We won’t be defensive monsters next summer, either. That’s not us. Our players play at clubs where they have to focus less on defense and more on attack. But if you lose the ball cheaply, you get in trouble,” said Nagelsmann (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Given that defending is a pretty darn important part of the game, the German national team is in some trouble.

However, it is fair to note that for a team that built on attacking players, the squad’s offense is pretty horrid, too
