Vote! Austria 2 - 0 Germany: Community player ratings

Is there any way back from this sorry state of the German men’s national team?

Austria manhandled Germany in a 2-0 international friendly result that should be setting off alarm bells about the preparedness of former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for next summer’s EURO.

Surely the DFB cannot sack two coaches in one year, right?

But if Germany is to play like a proud host nation and esteemed footballing power, it must show something resembling a pulse, and soon. To date, there has been precious little urgency outside of a France match — under interim coach Rudi Völler immediately after another Bayern alum, Hansi Flick, was sacked.

Die Mannschaft is such a star-studded squad. So why can it not muster a performance where they play like they mean it? Hard questions for both players and coach to answer.

Bild was justifiably brutal in its assessment of this match. Have your own say below the jump!
