Austria is set to face off with Germany and both Ralf Rangnick and former Bayern Munich defender David Alaba are looking forward to the showdown.
“I’m convinced Germany will have a really good Euros because they have the quality of players, but also an absolute top coach in Julian Nagelsmann. Of course I know Julian and I also know what his ideas are. We saw in the first games what kind of football he wanted to play,” said Rangnick (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I don’t think we’re favourites tomorrow, but that doesn’t matter. It’s going to be an exciting game, that’s how it’s always been. At club level we’d talk about a derby. We’ll field our best possible team.”
Another Austrian eager to face Germany is Alaba.
“Germany have world-class individual players and are always dangerous as a team — even though the results in the last few months have not been what they expected. They definitely have the potential to play successful football,” Alaba said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “But we are also a team that doesn’t have to hide from anyone. We want to end the year with a win in Vienna tomorrow, but it won’t be an easy task.”
When asked if he had thought about a return to Bayern Munich at some point, Alaba played his response right down the middle.
“I’m not thinking that far ahead. I feel very comfortable in Madrid, the club and I have very clear goals. My thoughts are not anywhere else,” the former Bayern Munich defender said.
