Why does Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané shy away from the media?

Let the performances do the talking.

If you had been paying attention, you would have noticed that Bayern Munich and Germany winger Leroy Sané rarely, if ever, makes an appearance in the media. Whether it’s a press conference before a match or a post-game interview afterwards, the 27-year-old does not appear before a camera. So, what gives?

“I want to take more responsibility in the way I play”, Sané declared (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’m not someone who talks a lot, but I want to take responsibility on the pitch with my performances. I really like my position. Julian and I had a good relationship at Bayern back then, he gave me the freedom I needed.”

It appears that the apparent strain in relationship between now-Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann and Sané when they were both at Bayern was a myth all along and that they actually got on well. It is also evident that Sané’s “media detox” is doing wonders because he is in the form of his life right now for the Bavarians, and hopefully he can carry that into international play.
