Bayern Munich Manuel Neuer details why he didn’t partake in customary jersey exchange

Maybe next time?

When Manuel Neuer made his return to the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich back on October 28th, the goalkeeper was witness to an 8-0 stomping of SV Darmstadt 98.

While it might not have seemed like all that special of a match for a goalkeeper who did not see much action, the game meant a lot to Neuer after a grueling recovery from a devastating leg injury that sidelined him for 10 months.

Because of that, Neuer did not want to engage in the customary exchange of jerseys after the match with Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen.

“I’d really like to keep the comeback shirt for myself. He understood, it was all ok. That won’t be a problem when we meet in the second half of the season. I always swap shirts — but today, I’ll keep it,” Neuer said at the time.

Surely, Schuhen will not let Neuer leave town without getting his hands on a jersey when the clubs meet in the Rückrunde.
