Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller’s future has come into question multiple times this season due to a reduced role in the squad as Jamal Musiala has moved ahead of him in the pecking order. Additionally, reports about a film crew following the star to document his season in the case that it ends up being his last at the club give Bayern fans more reason to worry.
A recent update about the Müller situation at Bayern revealed that no official decision has been made regarding the player’s future as the club plans to let the player decide what he wants to do at the end of his contract.
In an interview with Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund did not reveal any additional information about the progress of any potential contract talks with the Raumdueter, saying that, “Thomas is a rare phenomenon in world football. He joined the club when he was 11 and won everything. Barely anyone represents FC Bayern the way he does. We’ll find a good solution for everyone involved.”
While it is encouraging to know that Freund has an appreciation for Müller and his commitment to the club, “a good solution for everyone involved” does not necessarily mean a new contract.
It seems as though Bayern is thoroughly committed to retaining a good relationship with their arguably all-time most influential player, however, many fans wish for more in terms of the player’s on-pitch involvement in the team.
