Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel could not have liked what he was witnessing for the majority of his team’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Galatasaray.
Sloppy attacking, a leaky midfield, and uneven defending made the home side look like the aggressors for much of the match. However, the Bavarians were able to rally behind goals from Kingsley Coman, Harry Kane, and Jamal Musiala to outlast a weak, yet game, Galatasaray side.
For Tuchel, it was key to see how his team would respond to adversity.
“A very important win. Well done by our team. Galatasaray didn’t lose in 17 games this season. We had a lot of problems in the first half, we lost a lot of duels and weren’t good in 1v1 situations. Galatasaray had too many chances and we suffered a lot,” Tuchel said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “In the second half we defended a bit deeper, we were more composed and we had good situations upfront, especially on the wings with Leroy (Sané), King (Coman), and Jamal (Musiala) — who had a very strong performance. In the end we managed to turn the game around and got an important win.”
Now, the focus will turn to a weekend tilt with SV Darmstadt 98 and Tuchel will be looking to see a more complete effort from his boys at the Allianz Arena.
