Rémy Vita has joined Barnsley FC in the English Championship on loan for the entire 2021/22 season. The second division club will have an option to buy on the Bayern Munich II left back. The Bavarians reportedly paid between €1 to €2 million for him last summer. His current contract runs through 2024.
“The same applies to Rémy as to Lenn and Marvin. A move to a higher league is more productive for his development,” Campus Director Jochen Sauer said. “At the second division club Barnsley FC, he is facing a new sporting challenge, for which we wish him all the best and lots of success.”
Vita joined Bayern II from Troyes in Ligue 2 last season and made 25 points in the 3.Liga. This season, he’s only appeared in two of Bayern II’s ten matches. With the relegation to the Regionalliga Bayern, the club is focused on playing the younger players, and Angelo Brückner has become the first choice left back.
“It’s no secret that as a club, we identify young, hungry individuals who both want to play for Barnsley FC and progress in the game,” Barnsley co-chairman Paul Conway said. “Rémy meets that criteria, and arrives at Oakwell with a determination to improve and provide quality on the left-side of Markus Schopp’s team.”
