According to a report from Christian Falk on his “Englische Woche” show on Bild TV, Bayern Munich is the leader in the clubhouse to sign Bayer Leverkusen phenom Florian Wirtz.
Procuring Wirtz, however, will not be easy.
The youngster’s father recently announced that the midfielder is staying put until at least 2023, but when the time comes for Wirtz and Bayer Leverkusen to “mutually agree” that it is the right time for a move, the Germany international will likely have plenty of suitors.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are among the major clubs that will be in pursuit of Wirtz, who is said to not want to make the jump to England so early in his career.
In the summer of 2023, Wirtz will still only be 20-years-old, and could command a transfer fee north of nine figures if he continues to progress and develop at the current rate that he has been on in recent years.
