Bayern Munich II rode four (FOUR!) goals from Nemanja Motika to topple FC Schweinfurt 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon. This was a big win for Bayern II. Schweinfurt made it all the way to the Regionalliga Promotion Playoff last season before falling to TSV Havelse. They’re expected to challenge for promotion again this season, a such a demonstrative victory away from home is a real boon for Bayern II.

Match Highlights

Motika got Bayern II started on the day with a goal on his own rebound in the 18th minute. Malik Tillman made it 2-0 in the 39th minute after he intercepted a poor backpass and rounded the keeper before finishing from a tight angle. Unfortunately for Bayern II, Kristian Böhnlein pulled one back for Schweinfurt just before the halftime whistle to make it 2-1 in favor of Bayern II.

It was Motika with his second of the match in the 58th minute to make it 3-1. Two minutes later, Tillman crossed it in to Motika who finished with a slide for his third goal of match to make it 4-1.

Amar Suljic grabbed another goal for Schweinfurt in the 76th minute to make it 4-2, but Motika grabbed his fourth of the match ten minutes later to end any hopes of a comeback at 5-2.

BUT! Neither team were done. Adam Jabiri scored in the 90th minute for Schweinfurt before Eyüp Aydin scored a beautiful free kick in stoppage time to make it a 6-3 win for Bayern II.

Martin Demichelis was able to give Jamie Lawrence a break at centerback with Nico Feldhahn sliding in his place. Otherwise, it was the regular defense with Taylor Booth and Angelo Brückner at the two fullback positions with Bright Arrey-Mbi at the other centerback spot.

While he didn’t get a goal in this one, Oliver Batista Meier was, once again, a terror up front for the Schweinfurt defense. It wouldn’t be completely shocking if Bayern found a buyer for him this winter.

What else can be said about Motika after today’s brilliant performance. The kid is a goal scoring machine at this level. The 18 year old is only bested by veteran Jabiri by two goals in the Regionalliga Bayern at the moment. It’s truly been a breakout season for him.

Bayern XI: Kainz - Booth, Feldhahn, Arrey-Mbi, Brückner (88. Fust) - Aydin, Rhein (78. Sieb), Tillman - Batista-Meier (82. Lawrence), Vidović (88. Aitamer), Motika

Table and Next Match

Bayern II jump back into first place in the Regionalliga Bayern thanks to their superior goal differential over SpVgg Bayreuth, who still have a game in hand. Bayern II are starting to put a little separation in the table, however. Their lead over third place Burghausen is now five points, and Bayern II have played one fewer game.

This weekend, Bayern II will travel to Greuther Fürth II. They’re currently languishing in the relegation zone.
