Niklas Süle and his leaked WhatsApp texts have been talked about enough in the past few days. Although, just in case anyone’s unaware of the situation here is a quick recap: Back in 2018, the Bayern Munich defender sent his agent Murat Lokurlu a few messages expressing his intense desire to make a move out of Munich and to join a Premier League side. And, unfortunate for Süle, a legal battle between Lokurlu and Karlheinz Förster resulted in the disclosure of several documents including the aforementioned messages.
Well, there’s that!
According to Spox, Niko Kovač was the sole reason for Süle wanting to leave the Bundesliga champions. Just like several of his teammates including Thomas Müller, Jérôme Boateng and Joshua Kimmich, the 26-year-old was very unhappy under the Croatian manager. To be fair, everyone had it figured out already.
Now that things have changed, is a contract extension possible? Does Süle still want to go to England? Reports suggest that there is a chance that we would be seeing more of Süle in Bayern colors. The player has a good relationship with Julian Nagelsmann and feels comfortable and well settled now. If the coach wants the defender to stay and pulls the right strings, an extension is within reach.
Süle himself hasn’t ruled out a summer move and Bayern are already on the task of finding a replacement for the defender. Ultimately, the whole thing comes down to Nagelsmann and whether or not he wants to keep the player.
