The two strikers set the standard right now and eventually Watzke thinks Haaland will at least match Lewandowski’s excellence.

It seems that everyone is caught up in trying to figure out if Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland will develop into the next generation version of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

Even Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke delved into the discussion during an interview.

Watzke has no doubt that Haaland will catch Lewandowski at some point as he stated on Sport1’s Dopplepass (as captured by Abendzeitung reporter Maximilian Koch on Twitter):

Dortmund’s #Watzke in the #dopa above #Haaland and #Lewandowski. “Robert is a machine, he has developed incredibly. He’s incredibly professional, that’s the ultimate. But I am sure that Erling will catch up with Robert at some point. “#FCBayern

It is not hard to think that Haaland will, indeed, achieve a level of play that will at least be similar to the Polish Hitman. Haaland, however, has the tough task of having to prove as Lewandowski continues to build on his legacy.

One thing is for certain, both players are insanely fun to watch.
