At his press conference today, Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann was asked about the recent recent rumors linking the Bavarians to Chelsea FC defender and Germany international Antonio Rüdiger.

In typical Nagelsmann fashion, he was evasive without being rude — and even added a little humor to the situation.

“I don’t like talking about players who are under contract with another club. Thomas (Tuchel) has handled him extremely well, since he has been on the sidelines at Chelsea,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by Tz). “He is extremely aggressive. But I haven’t spoken to Brazzo about it yet. I’ll see if there’s still money in the wallet and then we’ll see.”

The rumors on Rüdiger are curious and could be a sign of some defensive upheaval if they are true. Niklas Süle is in the last year of his contract and Benjamin Pavard is rumored to want a permanent move to center-back.

In addition, youngsters Chris Richards (on loan to Hoffenheim), Lars Lukas Mai (on loan to Werder Bremen), and Tanguy Nianzou are all in the mix for the future of the roster.

What happens with Süle will probably determine a lot of how the defensive part of the roster is shaped for the future.
